Born on February 21, 1979 in Waco, Texas, Jennifer Love Hewitt has been in the acting business
since childhood. At the age of ten, she was a regular on the television series Kids Incorporated.
But her career as a teen starlet really began with the Fox sitcom Shaky Ground, an irreverant
Married With Children type series in which she played the daughter of the family. The show didn't
last long, and Hewitt went on to star in two ABC dramas that were even more shortly lived: The
Byrds of Paradise and McKenna. It wasn't until she joined the cast of the critically acclaimed
Fox series Party of Five that she really started getting nationwide attention. Originally cast
in the role of the recurring girlfriend, she fit into the chemistry of the ensemble show so
well that she was eventually made part of the standard lineup. The Powers That Be are currently
in the works to spin off her character of Sarah Reeves into her own series. But while her
television career got her name out there, it was Hewitt's movie career that really cemented
her status in American pop culture. Her starring role in the 1997 teen slasher flick I Know
What You Did Last Summer scored a major box office victory for the genre, and for Sony, and
very soon, young men across the nation were drooling over her. She carried the high school
graduation movie Can't Hardly Wait, and is now starring in the horror sequel I Still Know What
You Did Last Summer with singer Brandy. To her credit, Hewitt has
also had a singing career to call her own. In 1995, she released Let's Go Bang, and in 1996,
followed it up with a self titled album. Hewitt has a pleasant voice and sings well enough,
but the music itself is bubblegum dance pop at best; perhaps betraying her youth, she has
cited Alanis Morissette as an influence. Hewitt is also featured on the soundtrack for I Still
Know What You Did Last Summer, and sings in the movie. Hewitt also has producer credits
under her belt. The talented actress is set to star in several films to be released in 1999,
including one in which she will portray a young Audrey Hepburn.
